Modelmotorracing track testing session (up to 4 people for up to 60 mins)

Modelmotorracing track testing session (up to 4 people for up to 60 mins)   Ref: TRACKTEST

Our own small private scenic circuit in Cheddar, Somerset, is available as a track testing venue for visitors to come along and try out digital slot car products, prior to making a purchase or developing a circuit of their own. It's built from materials previously used for the public Cheddar Gorge Model Motor Racing Circuit. If you are thinking about building your own circuit, you will be able to see what it is possible to create in a space of approximately 3.5m x 2m with 3 lanes and lap times of around 5 to 6 seconds.

Saturdays and Sundays 10am to 4pm and weekdays during school holidays, depending on availability. The sorts of things you will be able to do here:
  • bring along some of your own cars to see how they run on our track - perhaps you are experiencing some problems at your place and need somewhere else to test them
  • see and try a copper-taped Scalextric Sport Digital circuit, to discover whether it's something you would like to do for yourself
  • try out PB-Pro, with race management and timing software PC Lapcounter or SSD Console, and when released, the new C7042 6-car powerbase
  • run your analogue cars on a digital track with the PB-Pro in analogue mode
  • experience racing with fuel management, ghost gars, etc.
  • see the RichG Timing Tower in operation
  • see some examples of the use of Hornby Scenic materials as slot car scenery
  • try out the Pit Lane Game in our double pit lane, and see if it's something you might like on your circuit
  • see and try out some cars you may be considering buying
  • get some first hand technical advice about building a permanent layout

Maximum of four persons at a time, must be pre-booked, approx 60 min timeslots - you can book up to 2 hours if slots are available. Not suitable for under 8s. State in "other information" on the checkout page what date/time you want to come, give a second choice too. Also please say what it is you particularly want to see/try (e.g. specific cars, computer software, pit lane game, etc.) so we can prepare it for you, and any questions you want to go away with answers to, or if you just want a general SSD introduction.

Sorry, no "arrive and drive" or private race session hires. This is just a low-cost track and product testing service for our customers, the booking fee contributes to our pot for track, scenery and car repairs resulting from overambitious testers!

Your booking slot will be confirmed by email. An hour will give you enough time for three or four races, trying out various features, also asking questions and so on.

Please note there is no store you can browse here, although you can collect items you have ordered in advance on the web. If you want to buy while you are in Cheddar, by all means visit the Caves, have a pub lunch etc. and pick your order up later on - allow us a couple of hours to make your order up. Cash only though, no card payment facilities on site.

To finds us, tap BS273QN into your Sat Nav and look for the house called Bay Rose.
