About Us Cheddar Slot Car was the first established shop and circuit focused specifically on Digital slot car racing, and particularly on the Scalextric brand. Scalextric is the best known manufacturer of slot car products in the UK and its digital product is backwards-compatible with previous analogue versions of Scalextric racing, as well as with most other brands of slot car. So if you have a question about Scalextric Sport Digital racing then you are in the right place, there isn't much we don't have first hand experience of in this field. Making A Purchase Making a purchase could not be easier. Just browse our store, and add any items that you wish to buy into the shopping cart. After you have finished your selection, click on 'Checkout' and you will be asked for a few details that we need to be able to complete the order. PLEASE ORDER ON-LINE RATHER THAN BY PHONE WHEREVER POSSIBLE. Phone orders are not stock-checked until they come to be put on the system which can be some hours later, which means that telephone customers can end up needing back-orders of items, and also do not get all the benefits of fast automated payment processing and email acknowledgements. We accept Visa, Mastercard, and Maestro card payments. If you are shopping from overseas, place your order and your credit card company will convert the transaction to your own currency accurately. We show prices in Euros, as an illustration only. Due to new rules on cheque clearance we can no longer accept cheques as payment. Also we are reluctant to accept Paypal due to a lack of seller protection against fraudulent transactions on their part, except for regular, known, customers. If you have requested a pre-order quotation please note any prices given in advance of the order being actually placed are subject to change without notice. Special offer discounts are limited to one per order. When confirmation of order is received, this is to indicate that we have received your order. It does not indicate that a contract exists between us. We will indicate acceptance of your order, and hence a contract between us, when we send you the item. We have included this term to protect us in the case that a mistake has been made in pricing, we have inadvertently under-priced goods, or we are no longer able to supply a particular product for some reason. In the case of a change of price, we will always contact you first to ensure that the price is acceptable.

Shipping, Handling and Other Information All prices on this site include VAT and UK postage and packing. Overseas customers' shipping costs are added on to the shopping cart total. Nearby customers can make an appointment to collect orders and save a bit on postage. For customers outside the EU please note you may incur import charges at your end. Wherever possible we will do our best to ensure your parcel does not seem to be a commercial package but there's no guarantee that it will get past your country's customs officials without charges being applied. Please note that sets shipped overseas will be intended for UK operation and you will have to find your own plug adaptors locally for the power supply. Because our operations are organised from a home-based office, we are usually able to process orders at evenings and weekends when many other retailers are closed - which means a quicker turnaround and despatch. Please note that most despatches for the day are made by 2pm, orders placed after that time will most likely roll over to the next day's processing. Most parcels arrive at UK destinations within 3 to 4 days, usually less, and 5 to 7 days for overseas customers. Faster services including next day delivery can be ordered at the checkout. "Guaranteed" next day delivery or Saturday delivery can also be arranged but it's expensive. Please note that we cannot guarantee the date of any delivery at any time of year (e.g. to arrive before a birthday or before Christmas), we do our best but we are in the hands of the postal and courier companies. If your parcel misses your deadline that's unfortunate but there is no compensation or refund available "because it was late", but you can return items still in saleable condition for a refund. To cut down on waste and keep packaging costs down, where possible, we will recycle old packaging from items sent to us, and pack your cartons with the manufacturers' own shredded paper and padding materials.

Delivery Schedule Small parcels normally go out the same day as the order is received if the order is placed before 2pm and items are in stock. Please check on the site home page to make sure we are not closed for a holiday or stocktaking though. Complicated parcels might take an extra day to put together. If an item was out of stock and we have had to order it specially, please allow 14 days - we will advise you if it will be longer. If an item is returned to us as undelivered (e.g. person not known or address not found), we will contact you regarding re-delivery arrangements. If after a second attempt the item is again returned to us, we will cancel your order and refund your payment (less our postage or courier costs incurred), and will refuse any future orders for this same address.

Back Orders If your item is not in stock, we will back order for you if it can still be obtained from the factory. Otherwise you can cancel the item and we will refund your payment. If we are aware that something is out of stock at the factory we will remove it from the web site. Sometimes off-line sales catch us out and the web site obviously does not update itself automatically in such cases, so occasionally we may need to back order something that was shown as in stock. This happens more often in the run up to and just after Christmas. You will always be emailed with the option to cancel your order and obtain a refund if you would rather not wait.

Tax Charges For orders made from the UK or the European Union, VAT is included. If you are buying for business purposes, through a VAT-registered company in the EU, VAT can be deducted and you can assess the VAT yourself, if you provide a valid VAT registration number. Also please note that dealing with the tax paperwork will add an extra working day to your order despatch time. We are unable to discount the VAT for customers in the UK or rest of the world (including the Channel Islands) as under the VAT scheme we are on, we would still have to pay the VAT we didn't collect from you, to the UK government.

Credit Card Security When the order is placed at our website, credit cards are processed by a PCI-DSS compliant third party payment processor and cleared before the order is received by us. We do not see any of our customers' card details, they are not held in clear text on any web site and payment details are not kept once processed unless you specifically ask us to, for future orders.

Guarantee If you have any problems with the item you have purchased, please advise us within 7 days of receipt.

Privacy Policy Cheddar Slot Car do not disclose buyers' information to third parties other than when order details are processed as part of the order shipping. The courier or postal service does not disclose any of the details to any other third party. Cookies are used on this shopping site to keep track of the contents of your shopping cart, to store delivery addresses if the address book is used and to store your details if you select the 'Remember Me' Option. They are also used after you have logged on as part of that process. You can turn off cookies within your browser by going to 'Tools | Internet Options | Privacy' and selecting to block cookies. Returns Policy Troubleshooting and returns If you experience any fundamendal problems getting your cars or track to work, use the troubleshooting guide we provide on our site first. Probably 95% of all problems are solvable in this guide. If still no joy, please get in touch with us for advice. If it turns out that an item or component was faulty on delivery to you, we will arrange for it to be replaced, or alternatively repaired (if possible), or as a last resort, a refund provided. Failed power supplies and powerbases which have no user serviceable parts can be returned for repair or replacement for up to two years. We cannot however accept returns where the product has been mistreated or damaged in your possession - particularly with cars, which by their very nature can be easily damaged through rough use. However replacement motors and car parts are inexpensive, easy to fit yourself, and available for several years after a car's release. Participation in the slot car hobby requires that you maintain and repair your cars as required, just as if you were racing a car in a real life racing competition. Beyond this, if you have a performance issue, e.g. you need more speed or better handling - congratulations - you have been bitten by the "slot car bug"! This is the kind of thing that slot car hobbyists spend many a waking hour thinking about. There is a wealth of information available on the internet about how you can improve any slot car, whether by sanding the tyres, lubrication, better tyres, better braids, more powerful motors, using a different layout, cleaning the track regularly, etc. etc. There is also a ready demand for second hand slot cars and track so as you get more involved in the hobby and build up your collection, you should be able to sell on your less-preferred cars, track and accessories, quite easily. Unwanted items or cancelled pre-orders (retail customers) If you receive an item and decide you do not want it, (but it is not faulty or incorrect) we class this as a "purchase on approval". Items classed as such are entitled to a refund if you contact us within 7 days of receipt and return the item in saleable condition. We do not reimburse return shipping costs for items bought on approval. Beyond 7 days you may wish to consider selling it on via an auction web site such as Ebay. When cancelling an advance order please telephone or send an email to advise us, and ensure you receive a confirmation from us that the order is cancelled - if for any reason the cancellation request does not get to us your order may still be shipped out and charged. Retail customers' rights to return goods are protected under the EU Distance Selling Directive which can be found at http://www.hmso.gov.uk/si/si2000/20002334.htm The ability of business-to-business customers' orders to be modified or cancelled will be governed by the terms and conditions of our suppliers and may incur cancellation or re-stocking fees.

Remittance Terms Credit card payments are now made in real time and all orders we receive via the web are fully paid up-front. This means that in some cases where items are out of stock and back ordered, we are unable to take part-payments or deferred payments, which is what we used to do, only charging on despatch. But new banking regulations mean that all card payment processing must be done in advance by an authorised third party. However in the event of you ordering something that is going to be out of stock, seriously delayed or even unobtainable, we will of course refund your payment ASAP.
