Spare parts for Scalextric cars Eventually this will happen to you...! Like the real thing, slot cars are not indestructible. But don't worry too much if you break your car, people do it all the time. Parts are usually still available for models made over the past few years or so; undertrays, axle assemblies, light boards, tyres, motors and so on. Slot cars are fairly easy to mend (see our maintenance page for tips) and you should be able to fix new parts yourself. Repairing cars also helps you to understand how they fit together and may also help you to exercise caution in driving, knowing how and where they can break. Typical accident damage is broken guide blades from over-zealous spinning, broken underpans from a nose-to-tail shunt, and general broken or lost wings. That as they say, is motor racing. So - there are three steps to getting your replacement parts, once you know the part you are looking for:

First check this list to see if the part you need is known to be unavailable. If it's on the list then unless you can find a retailer who has some in stock, the only way you will be able to mend your car is to buy a second-hand one on Ebay or at a swapmeet and cannibalise it for parts. At the bottom of the page is an Ebay panel you can use to start your search. We can't take parts back-orders for parts that are unavailable.¶ If the part is available, then scroll down to the Specific Parts section further down the page to see if we have got the part you need already in stock or available as "reclaimed". If we have, add to basket or proceed to buy as directed. If the part is not on the "known to be unavailable" list, but we don't have it in stock, hop over to www.slotcarcentre.co.uk/parts and place a parts back-order. This is a separate parts ordering service from the rest of this store. There is a £1 admin fee for this service, but if the part(s) you need turn out to be unavailable, there is no charge. Please note car body shells are not normally available as spare parts - for some cars this also includes wing mirrors if they are moulded as part of the bodyshell. If you need a new car body, with one or two exceptions, you will need to return the whole car to Hornby Customer Care for repair. ¶ Some of the latest parts may not have been produced yet and others may come back into production later, so keep checking back to see if availability has changed.

Minimum order Please note when ordering only small parts from this page there is a £5 minimum order value. It's not economical for us to pay card transaction fees and postage costs for items costing only a quid or two. If you order some braids, which are always useful, that will help make up the total.

If we are aware that parts for a particular car are in short supply, and if for example we are fortunate to have an example of that car spare in stock or returned due to an electrical fault, we will hang on to it if the rest of the parts are still as new.
