Soldering
Should you require a soldering iron to fit the chips into your old cars, we recommend looking through those offered by Maplin, especially the small pocket battery or lighter fuel powered ones which are ideal for the job.
Converting old analogue sets to digital
Modern sets like this are very digital-friendly, and the latest analogue cars have chip holders and holes for the under-car sensor already installed. Simply add a chip to each car and replace the "Sport" analogue power- base and hand control units with the digital ones. Older sets like this one, still used the modern "Sport" track, so the power and control units are again a direct swap but analogue lap counters are no use (swap it with a digital one). As the cars pre-date digital, although they can still be chipped for digital, you have to make the LED hole and seat the chip yourself. If your set is older still, it probably has "Classic" track in it. To use this in a digital circuit you need the C8222 converter straights. The cars' magnets are not as strong as modern ones but they can still be chipped for digital and make for a different driving challenge.
Obtaining a larger analogue or digital setObtaining a larger analogue or digital set
We have one Digital World Championship set left which you can bid on here and a Micro Scalextric set here.

Otherwise, we are no longer stocking the race ready sets but below you will find some links to places where you will be able to order them on-line. But for the rest of your needs - cars, track, accessories, chips and so on - you won't find these guys much help, so come back here for those.

Collectors' Centre items
We are not a "Scalextric Collectors' Centre" so cannot offer the limited edition cars that are only available through those outlets. However Hamleys (see link below) should have them.

Play.com are based in the Channel Islands and offer a wide selection of entertainment products (including Scalextric sets) with free shipping. Scalextric is usually in their "Gadgets" section or you can type "Scalextric" in the search box. Hard to find cheaper.
ArgosArgos are well worth a look as each year they often have some special exclusive sets and car packs only available through their stores. Again a general search on Scalextric will bring up everything they have. Available for collection or delivery.

Toys R Us also carry a fair bit of Scalextric and are probably the best place to find all the Micro Scalextric sets including the special character editions.
Amazon also supply a selection of Scalextric sets, available with free delivery. This is also the place to visit for Scalextric books such as The Slot Car Handbook.
Williams F1 team sponsors, Hamleys, are not the cheapest place to buy your slot car sets by any means, but are included here because like Argos they do commission some "Hamleys specials" from time to time and this is the only place you will find these sought-after bits of kit. And the top floor of Hamleys in London's Regent Street is always a fun place to visit for anyone interested in slot cars, remote control, model railways and all that kind of thing. Hamleys also offer Scalextric Collector Centre limited edition cars.
Special orders
If you are having trouble finding the particular set you require from any of these retailers, if it's still available from the factory we can get it in for you as a special order. But the price would be the standard recommended retail price (including UK shipping). Contact us via the link at the top of the page to enquire further. If you need to place an order for multiple sets, see our Special Orders section for more information.

6-car powerbases and C7011 conversion sets6-car powerbases and C7011 conversion sets
Sorry these have all sold out now. No more available until the new C7042 product is released in 2008 (see the new releases page). But you may still find original 6-car powerbases under "digital Scalextric" on Ebay. Look for the old 6-car conversion set (C7011), or possibly sold loose as C7030, or, more likely, within the original C1140 Lane Change Challenge set pictured left. Note that with the latter, you should ask the seller if the powerbase is a Version 1.5 (displayed when powered on). If not, you should expect to pay significantly less for it as V1.0 to V1.4 are not as fault-tolerant and the circuit boards can blow under heavy use. Hornby cannot provide any replacements or repairs for C7030s. If you can't wait for the C7042, almost all the functionality of that is available via the PB-Pro unofficial upgrade for old V1.5 C7030s.
Scalextric Analogue sets
We get a number of enquiries from parents who want to start their children off with a Scalextric set. All analogue Scalextric sets you can obtain from the retailers above could be used with a digital conversion kit to upgrade to digital at a later date, so no worries about having to throw it away and start again from scratch for digital. And once upgraded with a digital chip, cars that were previously analogue can run on either analogue or digital tracks. Please note that the powerbase and hand throttles from analogue sets are not compatible with the digital format; you would replace them with the ones from the conversion kit.

All Scalextric sets are designed for UK operation at 230V and with a 3-pin 13 amp plug fitted.
