2009 new Scalextric releases A summary of the cars and sets planned for release appears below. Other car variants may appear during the year too. Please note that release dates can and often do vary from the original plan and occasionally some cars don't actually make it into production. Also specifications change, often a car's DPR nature will change before release for example. Because of this, and due to the expiring nature of credit cards, and changing minds of customers, we will only take pre-orders on the new products a few weeks before they are definitely expected to arrive, when they will be added to the shop sections as pre-orderable products. We won't be reserving anything for customers until then, so subscribe to "Watch That Page" or the Twitter feed (in the margin) to be informed as soon as the relevant page is updated or new stock arrives.

C7042 Advanced 6 car powerbase This is the long-awaited upgrade to the original C7030 for racing up to 6 cars, again with multiple game modes, and an upgraded interface plus new options for skill level control, throttle calibration, instant push button car ID setting and 15V power upgraded from 12V. This unit can also operate in analogue or digital mode. Our order is expected to arrive 3rd quarter. We will take pre-orders for this only when the release date approaches. A new C7056 digital conversion set has also been announced, will be released for Christmas, more details when known.

Scalextric 2009 2009 is likely to be a funny old year for model Formula 1 cars, as with the new rules for aerodynamics packages (seen here on Robert Kubica's striking 2008-9 hybrid BMW in testing in November 2008) the cars we are driving on our Scalextric tracks will not look much like what we are seeing on our TV screens at least for the first part of the year.

Hopefully the model makers will catch up with the "new look" by the end of the year - this is the 2009 Ferrari as launched in January. The front wing looks likely to succumb to damage both at 1:1 and 1:32 scale! It will be interesting to see how schedules are affected by the global financial situation.
