Digital cars
All the cars below have the digital chips factory-installed, and are ready to run on either a digital or analogue track. All modern cars have magnets in the undertray, to help them stick to the track better than the cars of the 60s and 70s (for purists these can be removed or in most cases have their positions changed, to give different handling characteristics). If the car you require is not available in digital format, it is probably possible to get it in analogue format and chip it. We can do that for you if you wish, see here. 2008 is probably the last year of these pre-chipped cars, from 2009 it's likely that almost everything that can be digitalised will be Plug-Ready analogue cars. Digital cars on a budget
If you are on a restricted budget, remember that you can put a digital chip in pretty much any old Scalextric car with room inside for the chip, and that has an undertray (i.e. when you turn the car over, can you see the wires, axles and motor, or do you have to unscrew the undertray first). This is a really fun way to go digital racing, and there is a definitely a good feeling about rescuing an old car, restoring it, giving it full digital capabilties and then racing it! You can pick up old Scalextric cars for "recycling" at slot car fairs and car boot sales for next to nothing. Some new tyres and braids (see our accessories page), a bit of lubrication, and then just buy and install the chip yourself. You can then be racing DIGITAL historic single seater and saloon cars for maybe under £20 each!
