Classic track Do you have lots of old "classic" track (see photo) - with the spoon-shaped connectors at either end and a rough kind of track surface? If so, you can still use this within a digital circuit, as long as the track is in good condition (not warped), and with all the connecting lugs intact.
There is a wide range of interesting track pieces you might want to try using, that are no longer manufactured but still widely available second hand. To incorporate these in your digital circuit you will need pairs of C8222 Converter Straights (see below). Some racers prefer the rougher surface of this type of track compared to the modern Sport track, but no reason why your circuit can't use both types. Also some users will tape their classic track rails with copper tape to ensure good electrical connection. Also, if you are clearing out your loft and come across small quantities of old Scalextric cars and/or track in good condition and you would like to get rid of them, by all means contact us with details before you take them to the skip, and we may be able to help - use the contact form link above or call 01934 743250 to enquire further. You will need to send photos though. You could also sell items individually on Ebay - you would get more for them than selling as a job lot - but it's more effort on your part to create all the listings and despatch all the parcels. Unless otherwise stated, all the Classic track below is second hand, unboxed, and available in single pieces, is in usable condition (not bent or rusty), clean and pretty flat but an extra touch of Pleby's Cleaner will always help to improve electrical conductivity on some of these track pieces many of which will be upwards of 20 years old. Track could be Hornby or Triang versions, not possible to specify. SLOT DEPTH Classic track has a slightly shallower slot than modern Sport track. If you find some of your modern cars are bottoming out in the slot, you will need to file or trim a millimetre or so off the bottom of the guide blade.

Classic power and control We usually have a few second hand classic power supplies and hand throttles in stock which we can send out in return for a few quid to cover the postage and packing. We can test them briefly here to ensure they are not DOA at yours, but as to how long they will last this is uncertain as we don't know their history, so you are taking pot luck to some extent. These won't work on digital layouts and of course pre-date all modern electronics regulations, but you knew that already. Contact us via the link at the top for more information.
