Track borders and barriers
Essential for any digital circuit due to the increased likelihood of collisions on a busy track. The red and white kerb on the standard borders also offers some extra surface for the cars to use for recovery if they get a little sideways in the corners. There is enough width on the actual border to keep most crashed cars out of the way of the main lanes, so wayward cars will usually be constrained by the barrier and park themselves neatly at the roadside. SCX foam safety barriers - we have a few of these at strategic locations on our Scalextric Digital circuits and recommend them as they can quickly repay their cost in saved car/chip damage, broken wings, nosecones and so on. Ideal for the end of long straights, and close to corner lanechangers. They can clip to the trackside (four green borders and 6 under-track supports are provided to enable you to set them back from the track a bit) or they may be placed away from the track freestanding, preventing the cars from hitting a hard object. Each barrier will approximately cover the outside of a Radius 2 bend. They are very bouncy so for best results ensure that wherever you place them, they do not return deslotted cars back on to the track, in the way of oncoming traffic, which just makes matters worse. Do some careful "test crashes" before using them in a race!

This is a pack of 4 borders and barriers to go on straights. One pack will do both sides of a C8205. Also useful under a flyover to give a sturdy base for the bridge supports to stand on and give a little bit of extra height clearance.

Radius 2 45 degree outer borders (4) Ref: C8228
This is a pack of 4 borders and barriers, sufficient to do 180 degrees around the outside of a radius 2 bend. Two borders and barriers are needed to go round the outside of a lane-changer although you may need to rest the borders on a sheet of card (from any old cardboard box) just to bring them up to the same height as the slightly deeper lane-changer track.

Radius 2 45 degree inner borders (4) Ref: C8225
This pack of 4 borders and barriers will do the entire inside of a 180 degree radius 2 hairpin. Two borders and barriers will cover the inside of a lane-changer, but you will need to sit the borders on a piece of card (from any old cardboard box) to bring them up to the same level as the slightly higher lane-change track piece.

For those sections of your track where you just don't have enough space for a full border, these are the next best thing. A pack of 4 straight borders and kerbs, with black plastic clips to hold the barrier vertical and for the kerb to rest on. The clips will also work with the various radii of curved kerbs.

Curved kerbs and barriers Ref: C8268
A set of 4 Radius 2 45 degree curved kerbs, with barriers and plastic clips to fix them to the trackside. For corners where space is not sufficient for a full border, so you can still slide the tail out a little bit. You may find that a daub of glue where the kerb sits on the black clip helps to prevent the kerb popping off under the cornering forces of a grippy tyre.

These are not manufactured any more but we usually keep a small supply of these loose barriers, all in good condition with all clips intact. Invaluable for situations where your track runs right alongside something very hard! Can also be used on the outside of banked curves such as C8297. Colours supplied may vary. Some may have advertising stickers on them. Flags can be placed in the rear of the barriers, depending on stock levels one or two will be included with your order. Originally produced in "Classic track" days but still clip securely to modern Sport track.
